Coretta Scott King Center: $2,600 for Black History Month activities
Friends Care Community: $2,000 for intergenrational garden
Glen Helen Assn: $1,000 for planned giving brochure
Greene Educational Service Center: $1,000 for Partners for Preschool program
Jafagirls Art Group: $1,593 for monthly public art project
Joy of Heart Folk School: $1,500 for a living local history workshop
Mills Lawn School: $3,850 for All-School Musical
Summer Fest Music & Dance Program: $3,000 to provide music and dance at Summer Fest events
Tecumseh Land Trust: $3,333 toward establishing endowment
Village of Yellow Springs: $7,435 for improving safety and accessibility of village pool
YS Arts Council: $2,500 to match grant from OAC for video about Yellow Springs artists
YS Arts Council: $5,385 for stabilization and expansion
YS Community Council: $600 for Emergency Welfare Fund
YS Friendly Gardeners: $1,000 for redoing garden at north entrance to village
YS High School: $300 to support annual senior citizens’ lunch
YS High School and McKinney Middle School: $5,155 for basketball equipment
YS Home, Inc.: $1,350 for marketing and outreach project
YS Kids Playhouse: $5,000 for theatre arts educational modules at Mills Lawn School
YS Senior Citizens: $2,380 for building maintenance
YS Soccer, Inc: $300 for technical assistance
Saul Young Grants (unsolicited grants made at the suggestion of a trustee):
» $250 to YS Schools for Power of the Pen expenses, in recognition of Aurelia Blake’s excellent work with students in the program
» $250 to First Baptist Church as thank-you for hosting Martin Luther King celebration
» $250 to YS Kids Playhouse in recognition of work with youth in village and in appreciation of their recent alumni showcase
» $300 to YS Theatre Arts Assn. as thank-you for the performances of Fiddler on the Roof and to acknowledge graduating seniors
» $200 to Glen Helen Raptor Center in recognition of their recent owl program
The Charlotte Drake Youth Philanthropy Council recommended three grants, which were ratified by the board:
» $300 for art supplies for a senior project art exhibit
» $300 for senior project to build bikes for low-income children
» $300 for starting a high school computer club.
